FAQ

Do your cars come with a warranty?

Yes, all our cars have warranties with them. The term is generally determined by the price, mileage and age of the car purchased.

Our warranties are provided by AutoProtect, who are a multi-national company, and one that we have dealt with ever since Alyn started retailing cars on his own in 2004.

As most people know, used car warranties can be a nightmare, where the provider will do whatever they can to get out of paying a claim. 'They aren't worth the paper they are written on' is a common gripe about used car warranties. Now, obviously, our reputation is of paramount importance to us, as it would be pointless if a warranty issue was undoing all the good work that we have done by supplying the car in the first place, and we have used them for all this time as the claims process is clear and straightforward; your policy document tells you exactly what components are covered, and if that item fails, it will be replaced, on a parts and labour basis.

As warranties are such a sensitive issue, many garages oversell their cover, which leads to unrealistic customer expectations. We don't do that. No matter what another garage may tell you, not every item is covered (which is also the case if you were to even buy a brand new car), and it doesn't cover wear and tear or serviceable items, and there is a claim limit for each claim. We are totally transparent, and therefore manage customers’ expectations better than most, thus avoiding conflict.

The warranty period can be extended to 12 or 24 months, and in some cases, even to 36 months, and there are different levels of cover available to suit.

Do you supply finance?

Yes, we are fully FCA accredited, and are a licenced Credit Broker. This means that we can arrange funding through various companies, depending upon your credit rating.

The finance that we offer is very flexible, including NO DEPOSIT, YOUR OLD CAR AS FULL DEPOSIT, and with repayments up to a maximum term of 60 months.

Please see our Finance page for more information.

Will you take our car?

We don't always take part exchanges, as all of the cars that we sell are hand-picked to ensure our quality standards and reputation are maintained. However, we may take a trade-in if it fits our stock profile, and is also a Nice Car. Even if it is past its best, we have a couple of traders that we deal with on a regular basis who buy cars that are nearing the end of their life. There are also many online car buyers who will buy anything and pay straight away.

The simple answer is 'Just ask'. We can only say no, but please don't be offended if we do, it is purely for the right business reasons.

How are you different?

We don't 'sell' cars, customers buy them; there is a big difference. Our motto is 'Possibly the most laid-back and hassle-free way to buy a car you have ever experienced!', and 'We have NO pushy salesmen' and this is very true. "I don't know anyone who enjoys being pounced upon whenever they enter a shop or showroom when looking for a product. I don't like it, so I don't do it to others" says Alyn.

Customers are welcome to browse at their leisure, and can be assured that no-one will be hassling them. We will be in the background, available should you need any information, or would like a test drive (or multiple test drives to help make your mind up).

We are very proud of our reviews, which we encourage prospective customers to read on Facebook (Alyn Brewis Nice-Cars), Google, Auto Trader and CarGurus (CarGurus was founded by the guys that invented TripAdvisor, with the same feedback principle), and our awards (CarGurus Top Rated Dealer). Our reviews should give an insight from customers on how we run our business, and hopefully give peace of mind to those people who have not dealt with us before.

Customer satisfaction has been one of Alyn's main focuses throughout his career, as he is fully aware of the importance of a reputation, whether good or bad. It takes a long time to get a good reputation, but you can get a bad one overnight!

How do I find you?

We are on Remscheid Way, Jubilee Industrial Estate, Ashington, Northumberland, NE63 8UJ. If you are driving, we are directly opposite K Plastics, Painted 2 Perfection, Airbourne and Bodycraft.

The nearest train station is Morpeth, only 6 miles away. Morpeth is on the East Coast Mainline, and is usually the first stop after Newcastle, northbound.

The nearest airport is Newcastle International, which is 20 miles away.

Is it still for sale?

There is a common practice within the motor trade to advertise cars that are either sold, or don't even exist, simply to get potential customers interested in the advertised vehicle, and prompt contact with the dealership. The dealership then gets the customer's details, and endeavours to sell them a different car that is in their stock. Hopefully you would realise that this is something that we don’t do. It just wastes everyone's time.

Our aim is to remove an advert as soon as possible after a vehicle is sold. So 99% of the time, the answer is 'Yes, it is still available'.

What is your best price?

The advertised price is more often than not our best price. Our experience means that we have our 'finger on the pulse' of our market, and have an acute awareness of market value for the cars we sell. This is aided by many expensive tools that we use to ensure that our cars are advertised at a competitive price.

Car buyers have a huge amount of information available to them when researching the market prior to making a purchase, price being one of them. If our cars were too expensive compared to others available, then we would never sell any, so we have to be competitive. However, the old proverb applies: Cheap isn't good, and good isn't cheap, therefore we know that there may be other offerings available at a lower price. We will never claim to be the cheapest, but we will promise that our vehicles should offer better all-round value for money.

Look at it this way; there may be two houses up for sale in the same street that are identical to look at, one may need a lot of repairs doing in the not too distant future, is shabby inside and hasn't been particularly well cared for whereas the second one is ready to move into, has a modern kitchen, bathroom and décor. The house has obviously been cared for and is well maintained and well presented. That is our car! Obviously the lesser quality house will have to be advertised cheaper to tempt prospective purchasers not to buy the better one. I would like to think that this philosophy applies to all purchases, whether it be cars, houses, vacuum cleaners, computers et al. Cheap isn't good, and good isn't cheap.

However, very occasionally, we have a particular car sitting a little longer than anticipated, so we allocate some margin from other sales to enable us to reduce the price of it. It costs nothing to ask, but don't be offended if we say no!

Can I take it straight away?

Our ultimate aim is to have every car 'Ready to Go'. However, due to the volume of cars that we sell, it is never going to be fully achievable. The norm is 70% of our cars have been through the workshop and are ready to drive away, so you can have it as quickly as you can pay for it! We can register the warranty there and then, and even tax it online. All you need to do is arrange the insurance! It is as simple as that!

Can you arrange insurance?

Unfortunately not. Insurance is probably the only thing that we can't assist with, as everyone's details, such as 'where is the car parked overnight' are unique to them.

Can you arrange the vehicle tax?

Yes. The online DVLA system is extremely easy to use, and is available 24 hours a day (although we aren't!). It usually takes us a minute and a half to arrange the tax on your behalf. All you need to do is bring a card for payment, or if you wish to pay monthly, your bank details. We will set it up so far for you, and you can complete the rest (we don't mind doing it, but we understand some people do not wish us to see their bank account details, so it isn't a problem).

Very occasionally, it isn't as straightforward as this i.e. if the car being purchased was previously registered as disabled, then the tax has to be done at a Post Office. But this is fairly rare.

Can you sell my car for me?

Yes, if you have a car that fits our stock profile, we can sell it for you on a commission basis. Give us a call and we can talk to see if we can help.
